Over the last twenty years of my stint in community service & social work I have realized & seen that the number of underprivileged who cannot even afford the basic needs of life is on the rise; hence we come across problems such as alcoholism, wife beating, drugs ,road side beggars ,young miscreants & so on . In my opinion, encouraging these underprivileged kids & adult learners towards education could be a solution to some of the above evils .Having said that unless their basic needs are met, education takes a backseat... The good news is that in the year 2009 & till September 2010, we managed to to the lives of around 2900 children all over Maharashtra thus helping them in their educational pursuits! I am writing this email to you to seek your support in the successful implementation of a couple of new projects that we have taken up which we expect to complete by the end of DEC. 2010 latest.. Let us tread together on this route of emancipation of the underprivileged!
Project 1 : TO PROVIDE BASIC EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT TO 450 SLUM CHILDREN ACROSS MUMBAI : We need large quantities of school bags, umbrellas, note books, school stationery such as pens, pencils, compass boxes, water bottles, Tiffin boxes, crayons & such .These will enable us to equip these 250 children to go to school from mid November 2010 more comfortably with the necessary items .They are across multiple locations in Mumbai such as Nerul, Airoli, Deonar, Mankhurd, Govandi ,Western Suburbs & such
PROJECT 2: SETTING UP LIBRARY & READING ROOMS FOR THE UNDERPRIVILEGED ACROSS 25 LOCATIONS IN MAHARASHTRA (BOTH RURAL & URBAN ) 1. Setting up a Library & Reading Room to encourage the reading habit & also widen their horizons We plan to have 2 cupboards & a dozen chairs & 4 tables at each location .We aim to stock each location with around 1000 good books in Hindi, Marathi ,English (OLD cupboards & Children’s Books in good condition are welcome ). 2. We also wish to get them some good indoor games such as Chess, Carrom, other Board games to enable them to spend their free time qualitatively.
PROJECT 3 : SETTING UP COMPUTER LEARNING CENTRES FOR THE UNDERPRIVILEGED ACROSS 25 LOCATIONS IN MAHARASHTRA (BOTH RURAL & URBAN )The focus of this initiative is to help the underprivileged equip themselves with computer skills to thus increase their employment opportunities .The courses we offer equip them with Microsoft Office & TALLY and get them jobs in institutions & corporates.WE SEEK OLD COMPUTERS IN WORKING CONDITION FOR YOU WHEN YOU UPGRADE TO NEWER MACHINES .

ReplyDeletethis is re. project 2. i have been supporting quite a few projects here in this - can help for your projects in other locations too. i keep getting used books too, esp. for kids. tell me where to send this, where are your locations, cupboards etc, sponsors can be raised. Simple to read, lovely illustrations, books in Eng, Hindi and Marathi also available. Please let me know, regards,
